Gift Credit CardsGift credit cards are prepaid credit cards that may come with a decorative design or festive wrapping for the occasion. The gift credit card is issued by major credit card companies such as Visa or MasterCard and can be used anywhere those brands of credit cards are accepted. Anyone can obtain a gift credit card by presenting cash or check at a location that offers the cards. You pay the full value of the card upfront and then that value is stored on the card and depleted as it is used at various locations. When the balance is fully depleted, the card is no longer accepted, although you are likely able to replenish the balance if you so desire. A gift credit card is based on a cash value and is not actually tied to your individual credit. It is more in line with a gift card or certificate than an actual credit card, but can be used as a credit card in a great deal of locations making it a universal gift.
